Ardèche
|
 |
The Ardèche is a beautiful and very historical viticultural region about 350 km (200 miles) south of Beaune where Maison Louis Latour was the first to introduce the noble Chardonnay grape type in the late 1970's. The hotter weather and soils similar to those of Burgundy help to produce grapes that reach their maximum ripeness a little in advance of the harvest in Burgundy. Our Chardonnay de l'Ardèche first entered the market in the middle of the 1980's and proved to be so popular that we have expanded plantings and now offer the Grand Ardèche; specially selected grapes from the best sites are crushed and fermented in cask at our state of the art winery near the vineyards and then the wine is aged for a minimum of 12 months.'
