Brouilly « Les Saburins »

This Brouilly "Les Saburins" 2009 has a lovely deep garnet colour. The nose reveals aromas of pear-drops and banana, typical of the Gamay varietal. It is round and smooth with nice balance and lasting fruit flavours.

Marsannay

Ruby red in colour with raspberry and earthy aromas on the nose. In the mouth this Marsannay is fleshy and structured and the tannins are mellow but still present. This lasts nicely on the finish.

Mercurey Rouge

The Mercury 2009 has a deep and sparkling colour. Aromas of plums and brandied morello cherries make way for ample and powerful flavours of violets and liquorice to come through on the palate. Good tannins on the finish mark the true characteristics of Mercurey. This is very pleasant to drink now however it will be at its peak within 2-3 years.

The Chablis 2009 has a lovely pale gold colour and a bouquet of white fruits, muscat and almond. It is round, rich and supple in the mouth.

Pale yellow in colour this Chablis has an expressive bouquet with aromas of white flowers. On tasting, the wine is balanced, lively and has a fine minerality melded with delicious flavours of grapefruit. Very fresh with a lasting finish on the palate. Tasted March 2010.

Pale yellow in colour. This wine has an intense and aromatic bouquet of white peach and fig. Round and bright in the mouth with a lovely acidity and notes of fresh hazelnuts on the finish. This is an elegant wine with impressive structure.

A pale, mahogany coloured wine with bold, lively fruit aromas. Medium acidity, supple tannins and round structure all combine deliciously with floral flavours to create a suave, fine wine. Tasted 06/02/03.

Domaine de Valmoissine

This Valmoissine has an intense colour and developed aromas of candied fruit. In the mouth the fruit is supple, and with a few more months of ageing the spicy tanins will be perfectly rounded. On the back palate a balanced structure is revealed for this Pinot Noir planted high up on the Verdon hillsides at an altitude of 500m giving the wine finesse and delicateness.

In the mouth this wine is rounded and quite big with tannins which which are present but soft on the edges. On the finish we are left with a lasting taste of cherry-stone. This wine is a keeper!

Citrus / apple, with nutty tropical flavours, follow balanced acidity and toasty oak flavours.

Over 50 per cent of this wine comes the Louis Latour estate, only a stones throw away from the famous vineyards of Corton Charlemagne. A bright and clear ruby colour, the nose was clear and fresh, lightly oaked with traces of black currant. The palate was generous with hints of liquorice and ripe plums. A long oak finish and a final roundness in the mouth make this a very alluring wine.

Blended from the Domaine 1er Cru vineyards of « Perrières » and « Clos du Roi », this wine had a gentle garnet colour. The bouquet was more subtle with hints of raspberry and good fruit character whilst the palate was more complex expressing this raspberry fruit layered with sweet vanilla oakiness. A wine of great finesse and charm with an impressive length.

An intense ruby colour with a purplish tint. This was very expressive on the nose with sweet, forward notes of wood-spiciness. The palate was intense, with a great backbone and tightly knit structure and showed a more earthy finish.

Garnet-red in appearance, this was reserved but clean on the nose and expressed hints of red currants. This was reflected on the palate along with a high concentration of tannins. The wine had a brambly finish and will be drinking at its best over the next couple of years.

Chambolle-Musigny

This is superbly round with exquisite balance. The acidity from the 1996 vintage is revealed here but blended imperceptibly with the sound tannic structure. Hints of animal fur and mushrooms start to show through on the nose as it was allowed to breathe. A wine that after 4/5 years of cellaring will perfectly suit those delicate pinot palates.

Half of this wine has been aged for 14 months in oak casks whilst the other half was left in stainless steel to preserve its fruit character adding a certain roundness to the finished product. The wine has a ruby cherry colour and on the nose the wine has aromas of red and black cherry fruits, with notes of confectionery. In the mouth it is soft and rich with hints of dark cherries at the outset with a long sweet finish. It possesses finely balanced tannins and acidity and is certainly a wine which will develop over the next 2/3 years.

A concentrated garnet colour with a complex smoky nose. This wine stood apart from the others for its blackcurrant spicy nose. This feminine spiciness was reflected on the palate along with a great roundness and balance that promise to make this a wine of great class.

This is a large, round, weighty wine with a hint of marzipan on the nose and on the finish. We found it quite open with a raspberry/cherry quality with hints of forest mushroom. This wine will certainly develop its already complex bouquet over the course of the next few years.

This wine displayed a harder, more wooded nose with a nose of concentrated red fruits. The tannins were pronounced but balanced and raspberry was the dominating flavour. These tannins seemed to round out towards the wine's finish.

This wine is quite new to the stable of Louis Latour wines. It has a vibrant ruby red colour with a forward nose of fresh fruit. The palate shows dry tannins which linger in the mouth and soft brambly fruit. The wine is well balanced with a lovely dry finish that will repay patience over the next two years.

Morey-Saint-Denis

The general impression for this wine was that it was still restrained on the nose but starting to show a lively pepper spice quality with a nod towards its future vegetal character. In the mouth the wine displayed great wood integration, tightly-knit tannins, hints of vanilla and more earthy character. This wine was slightly more prickly and has a lot of potential.

This has a polished appearance with a beautiful perfumed nose showing hints of raspberry, strawberry and banana. The wine is supple with a tannic structure stronger than the wines above but with hints of violets on its long finish. This wine will need a few years for the tannins to marry perfectly with the fruit.

A medium dark colour and an evocative feminine nose. This wine appeared rich and sweet with an aromatic bouquet. The palate was silky smooth with pronounced cigar box aromas. The tannins seemed to rest at the top of the mouth and slowly drip, unnoticed, onto the tongue. The finish was long and voluptuous showing some green fruit and hints of chocolate - this is a wine of breeding and distinction.

Its power and complexity earmark it as a wine worth guarding for at least 4/5 years, if you are able to resist temptation.
