Wine tasting
  • Tasting Note
Typical of this Grand Cru, this wine has a magnificent light golden robe. On the nose notes of toasted bread and white flowers, such as honeysuckle and camomile come to the fore. On the palate, this is a very fatty ample wine with flavours of honeycomb, leaving a slightly woddy finish. Best laid down for a good three years. Definately worth waiting for !
  • Food Pairing
Pan-fried sea scallops - saffroned monkfish - lobster thermidor.

Press review
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2019 - 96 pts - James Suckling - July 2021

Weight and vitality, concentration and elegance make this a very impressive white Burgundy, even though it is still pretty young. Time will undoubtedly amplify all this, because the wine already expands as it powers inexorably across the palate. Huge yet fresh finish. Drinkable now, but best from 2023.

    • Bâtard-montrachet Grand Cru "Clos Poirier" 2019 - The Wine Advocate - 90/92+ pts

"The 2019 Bâtard-Montrachet Clos Poirier Grand Cru is turning out nicely, exhibiting aromas of pear, toasted nuts, orange oil and popcorn, followed by a full-bodied, layered and nicely concentrated palate. Though the vines here are still young, this appears to be a fine effort in the making."

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2018, 96/100, James Suckling

The aromas of hot stones in the vineyard really highlight the dried apples and citrus with flint and straw, following to a full body with a tight palate and reserved finish. It needs time to open and show it's greatness. Give it three to four years to open.

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2018 - 94 pts - Wine Spectator 2021

An opulent version, displaying peach, lemon cake and apple flavors, with sweet spice and honey notes woven into the finish. Layered, long and balanced, with grace and understated power. Best from 2022 through 2030. — BS

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2018 - The Wine Advocate - 91 pts

"The 2018 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has turned out well, mingling aromas of pear and white flowers with hints of almond and beeswax. Full-bodied, layered and textural, it's rich and fleshy, with lively balancing acids."

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2018 - Tim Atkin - January 2020 - 93/100
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2018 - Burghound.com - Allen Meadows - June 2020 - 91-93/100

An intensely floral-suffused nose speaks mostly of spiced ripe and fresh white orchard fruit. The succulent and seductively textured larger-scaled flavors possess evident power on the vibrant and refreshing, clean and dry finish. Like a number of wines in the range, this is going to need age to further develop depth.

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2018 - William Kelley, Wine Advocate (USA) - February 2020 - 92/100

Rich and muscular, the 2018 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is a full-bodied, textural wine that evokes candied peel, fresh peach and honeycomb. Already showing well, I suspect this will be quite approachable young.

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2018 - Jancis Robinson - January 2020 - 16.5/20

Cask sample. Both spicy and mealy/savoury on the nose but no lack of pear fruit behind that. Rich and creamy in the mouth, fat and spicy. (JH, UK)

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2017 - Burghound.com - USA - June 2019 - 93/100
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2017 - James Suckling - USA - Fabruary 2019 - 94/100A very impressive nose with plenty of lemon and grapefruit on offer, as well as hazelnutty oak influence and some stony nuances. Very rich and quite exotic fruit on the palate, in the peach, nectarine and mango spectrum. Well cast oak warms and spices up the finish. Complex and generous Bâtard. Drink or hold.
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2017 - Wine Spectator - Septembre 2019 - 96/100, Top Wine

Enticing aromas of white flowers, lemon, pastry shop and toasted spices are followed by apple, mineral and spice flavors in this plump yet elegant white. Long and creamy on the finish, unleashing its payload gracefully. This should age beautifully, but decant now if you can't wait. (Bruce Sanderson, USA)

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2017 - William Kelley, Wine Advocate (USA) - February 2020 - 92/100

bursting with aromas of orange oil, honeyed pears and toasted nuts. Full-bodied, rich and muscular while remaining lively and succulent, it's already drinking well.

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2016 - Burghound.com - June 2018 - 94/100Medium weight flavors are finer if a bit less concentrated but with impressive power and intensity that really builds from the mid-palate to the relatively dry, linear and austere finish.
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2016 - Wine Spectator - October 2018 - 92/100

A lush, mouthfilling version, this delivers ample peach, apple, spice and saline mineral notes, backed by a vibrant structure that pushes the aftertaste of butter and spice.

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2016 - James Suckling - February 2018 - 96-97/100A layered and sexy Bâtard with sliced cooked apples, pie crust and vanilla. Wet stone. Full body with delicious and pretty ripe fruit. Sexy. Hard not to drink now. But wait until it is released.
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2016 - Tim Atkin - January 2018 - 95/100

The Latour holdings are in Le Clos Poirier on the Puligny side of the Grand Cru with, unusually, north- to south-facing rows. Fermented in new oak, though not excessively marked by it, this is a sumptuous yet well balanced Bâtard, all smoky richness, subtle reduction and palate-cleansing acidity. 2021-28

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2016 - Burgundy Report - Bill Nanson - December 2017A hint of firework reduction but what a nose, what a complexity - wow! The reduction is quite forward on the palate too but this is not yet bottled. A finer delivery of flavour today than the Charlemagne (like the Referts vs the Sous les Puits) and such a wide and impressively concentrated yet fabulously balanced middle. This will clearly be a great wine. Bravo.
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2016 - Inside Burgundy, Jasper Morris - January 2018 - 91-93/100

Full mid yellow, rich heady nose, a little bit of pineapple, quite powerful. (tasted prior to bottling)

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2015 - Wine Enthusiast - November 2017 - 96/100 Cellar Selection

Wood, ripe fruit and a tight texture give this wine a very complete feeling. It is structured, mineral-driven and packed with fresh apples and yellow fruit. (USA)

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2015 - Burghound.com - June 2017 - 91-93/100

(from both Puligny and Chassagne fruit). As is typically the case, this is not quite as ripe as the Criots and is moderately more elegant too with a white peach, floral and lemon peel-suffused nose. There is excellent richness to the generous, juicy and opulently textured broad-shouldered flavors that coat the palate with sappy dry extract while delivering excellent persistence on the relatively refined finale. This is good stuff and note that it's sufficiently structured that it should be able to improve over most of the next decade. (91-93)/2023+

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2015 - James Suckling - April 2017 - 98/100

Aromas of lemon peel, light lilacs and orange blossom. Full body and flavors of stones and chalk with sea-salt undertones. The length and creamy texture capture your attention. Layered and beautiful. Just a baby now. Try in 2022.

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2015 - Tim Atkin - January 2017 - 96/100

Combining their own holdings of 0.48 hectares with 20% purchased fruit, Louis Latour has produced an outstanding Bâtard in 2015: beesway, balanced and sensitively oaked with chalky minerality, notes of white flowers and stone fruits and a long, refreshing finish. 2018-26 (UK)

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2015 - Burgundy Report - December 2016 - "A very attractive and complex wine"

A big deep aroma some sweet apple here. This is big, but actually it is the wine with the most energy - a very attractive and complex wine. Extra-long. Great wine! Bill Nanson (UK)

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2014 - Wine Enthusiast - October 2016 - 95/100

This wine is ripe and structured, dense with both acidity and minerality. It is rich with yellow and tropical fruits but always cut with lively acidity, making it opulent while fresh. Drink from 2022.

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2014 - Burghound.com - June 2016 - 95/100

There is excellent concentration to the powerful and intense large-scaled flavors that evidence a taut muscularity before concluding in an attractively dry and hugely persistent finish.

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2014 - Wine Chronicles - May 2016 - 93/100

More evidently rich and concentrated than the other 2014 whites. Yes, one does get vivid toasted brioche and even almond paste aromas and the palate is layered and rich, with more yellow than white stone fruits with touches of oak-derived spice. It is quite weighty, with a powerful aspect and a feeling of copiousness, richness and length. Some were a bit critical of its alcohol, lending potential flabbiness, but I reveled in this wine.

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2014 - Tim Atkin - February 2016 - 96/100

Latour own 0.48 hectares in this highly fragmented Grand Cru, all of it on the Puligny-Montrachet side. This is a rich, plushly oaked Bâtard, showing stone fruit sweetness and some grapefruit pith, focused acidity and stylish oak integration. 2019-2028 (UK)

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2014 - Wine Spectator - November 2016 - 93/100

A tightly wound style, with lemon, apple and melon flavors fused to a vibrant structure. Oak spice details emerge on the lingering aftertaste. Should flesh out nicely with time. Best from 2019 through 2029. By Bruce Sanderson (USA)

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2014 - Burgundy Report - January 2016 - "Very deep"

Very deep and very fine nose. (...) A mineral wine, perfectly textured, the complexity is modest to start but open-ended as it becomes ever wider. A little more mineral in aspect. A little explosion of extra flavour in the finish. (cask sample) By Bill Nanson (UK)

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2013 - Wine Enthusiast - October 2015 - 95/100This is a beautiful wine, full of ripe yellow fruits, steely acidity and a juicy character that comes from the apple and apricot fruit flavors. While there is a firm layer of toast from the wood aging, the wine is rich, tight and full of acidity. This structured wine needs many years, so drink from 2020. (USA)

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2013 - Wine Spectator - June 2016 - 93/100

This white reveals lemon cake, apple pie, spice and grapefruit peel flavors on a broad-shouldered frame. A bit rangy now but needs time for the elements to integrate. A stony note appears as this winds down on the finish. Best from 2017 through 2027.

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2013 - Decanter - April 2016 - 96/100

Slightly compressed aromas but the base and mid-range notes reveal a compellingly beautiful, complex wine. But what scale we have on the palate: super-complex; every part of your mouth active! The finish comes with small waves of reprise. A beautiful thing that you can either sniff or drink, ideally both. Drink 2016-2040

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2013 - Decanter - April 2016 - 96/100

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2013 - James Suckling - June 2015 - 96/100A complete and open wine with ripe fruit and a silky, sexy texture. Dried fruit plus a mineral, dried apple and pineapple character. Full-bodied, focused and precise.

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2013 - Burghound.com - June 2015 - 93/100Excellent intensity and impressive length. (...) By Allen Meadows (USA)
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2013 - The World of Fine Wine - 2015 - 16/20Ripe, opulent, oaky nose. Rich, plump, and full-bodied.
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2013 - Burgundy Report - December 2014 - "Very impressive"Deep and a little toasty. A little too much gas today too but this wine is a tight ball of intensity that explodes with interest and energy - but only after you swallow - it's very impressive but with a little toast flavour too. Most impressive is the reprise of flavour - this is brilliantly long and will be great.
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2013 - Tim Atkin - January 2015 - 95/100 (UK)
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2012 - Wine Spectator - Mai 2015 - 92/100Tropical fruit, apricot and spice aromas and flavors mark this flamboyant white. On the back end, this is lean and racy, staying persistent on the lingering finish. Best from 2017 through 2028.
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2012 - Burghound.com - June 2014 - 94/100(80% from Puligny fruit in 2012). The overtly ripe yellow orchard fruit nose displays additional breadth in the form of white flower and pear aromas. There is a lightening touch of citrus to the round, rich and generously proportioned big-bodied flavors that are very Bâtard in character while finishing with excellent complexity and intensity. This should also be approachable young yet improve for 10 to 12 years if desired. 2022+ By Allen Meadows (USA)
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2012 - Burgundy Report - June 2014 - "I like this VERY much"Cask sample. The fruit is 80% from the Puligny-side of the vineyard. Starts with a little reduction, but becomes ever-fresher in the glass and a nougat-like note builds. The palate is rather mineral and has a lovely growing intensity of flavour. I like this VERY much...
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2012 - Jancis Robinson - January 2014 - 17.5/20Fine, savoury and nicely chiselled. Something to get your teeth into and actually more structured than many Bâtards. Not just power. Well done! Drink 2018-2028 (cask sample) UK
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2012 - Tim Atkin - February 2014 - 95/100The Louis Latour whites are particularly good in 2012, exemplified by this concentrated, sumptuous Bâtard. Rich, dense and flamboyant on the nose and palate it has complex aromas of orange zest, baking spices and honey, just the right amount of toasty oak and bright, chiselled acidity. 2016-28. (UK)
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2011 - Wine Spectator - September 2014 - 93/100Honey and butterscotch notes coat the peach and melon fruit in this round, opulent white. Shows plenty of substance and a moderately firm structure. Best from 2016 through 2025. By Bruce Sanderson (USA)
    • Bâtard-Montrachet 2011 - Burghound.com - Allen Meadows (USA) - June 2013 - 94/100(80% from Puligny fruit in 2011). A discreet application of wood frames the overtly ripe though once again, not really exotic nose aromas of both white and yellow peach, apricot, lightly spiced pear and acacia blossom. There is excellent volume and solid mid-palate concentration to the rich, powerful and quite broad-shouldered flavors that are likewise blessed with an abundance of dry extract that confers an almost chewy texture to the vibrant and wonderfully long finish. Along with the Montrachet this is potentially the best wine in the range in 2011. 2019+
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2010 - Burghound.com - June 2012 - 94/100There is good power, size, weight and mid-palate concentration but there is also a better sense of detail and refinement compared to the Criots. This delicious effort is impressively scaled but not top heavy and I like the overall sense of balance. 2018+. By Allen Meadows (USA).
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2010 - The International Wine & Food Society - October 2017 A sensational white vintage that still seems tight here. Rich apricots opened somewhat as aired and warmed. No rush. Louis-Fabrice says it still too young. Needs time.
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2010 - Jancis Robinson - January 2012 - 17++/20Vanilla pod, shiny apple fruit, some leafy character. Dense, fine acidity, intense, all the adjectives for grand cru Chardonnay. Bit of a smoky finish. Conventional and safe, but authentically complex. Drink 2014-2020. By Richard Hemming (UK).

    • Bâtard Montrachet Grand Cru 2009 - Wine Spectator - June 2012 -91/100 A distinctive aroma of clover honey leads to peach, honey and backing spice flavors. Slightly coarse in texture, though long, with a spice-tinged finish. Best from 2013 through 2020. (USA)
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2009 - Wine Enthusiast - October 2011 - 93/100Very mineral, textured wine, its acidity and taut green fruit flavors firmly in evidence. It has some of the richness and opulence of the vintage, with great swathes of ripe yellow fruits developing. For long-term aging. (USA)
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2009 - Burghound.com - June 2011 - 94/100This is clearly very ripe but it stops short of exhibiting exotic aromas with white flower, citrus and a background touch of honey leading to big, rich and concentrated broad-scaled flavors that possess copious amounts of dry extract that completely buffer the firm acid spine before culminating in a palate staining and explosive finish. Like the Corton-Charlemagne, this is an imposing wine yet it remains well-balanced and superbly long. 2019+. By Allen Meadows (USA).
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2009 - The World of Fine Wine - March 2011 - 17/20Big and gras but with fine compensating mineral tones. Good length and intensity. Not too fat. By Michael Edwards (UK).
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2009 - Jancis Robinson - January 2011 - 16.5++/20Big and bold on the nose. Slightly chewy still. Drink 2013-2016. (UK)
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2008 - Wine Spectator - August 2011 - 90/100Candied citrus, butterscotch, and apple notes need air to come together. Solid, if on the chunky side, with a lingering finish. Best from 2012-2020. By Bruce Sanderson (USA).
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2008 - Wine Enthusiast - November 2010 - 93/100There is an explosion of ripe yellow fruit here, giving a ripe, tropical feel. Spice, mango, it's quite a powerhouse of flavors. This is a gorgeous, opulent wine. By Roger Voss (USA).
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2008 - Jancis Robinson - 2010 - 17.5/20There is real tension here, as well as the weight of fully ripe fruit. There seems to be more acid here than in the Criots. I think this may develop into something very intriguing. Drink 2013-2021 (UK)
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2008 - Burghound.com - July 2010 - 93/100An unusually elegant and, like the Demoiselles, highly complex nose features ripe orchard fruit, dried flower and moderate wood notes where the latter continues onto the extremely rich, full and powerful flavors that do not topple over into excess weight or opulence. In fact, this remains admirably focused and impressively wellbalanced on the seriously persistent finish. 2016+. By Allen Meadows (USA).
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2007 - Jamie Goode's Wineanorak - April 2010 - 93/100Toasty, creamy and intense on the nose, with some mineral notes. The palate is lively, fresh and minerally with good acid and precision. Bold and focused with complex herby notes: a lovely wine. (UK)
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2007- Burghound.com- July 2009- 93/100(from Puligny fruit). Hints of oak spice add nuance to the classic dried white flower aromas that precede the broad-shouldered flavors that are clean, dry and ultra intense with real drive on the penetrating and discreetly mineral-suffused as well as notably dry finish that delivers stunning length. At present, this lacks just the last bit of complexity to be at the same level as the Demoiselles but it's not far off. In sum, this is a big and rich but not massive Bâtard. 2015+. By Allen Meadows (USA).
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2006- Wine Spectator - Jun 15, 2009 - 92/100Floral, apple and citrus flavors convene in this elegant white, which is compact and almost crisp, with the acidity driving the long finish. A vanilla custard note lingers on the aftertaste. Best from 2011 through 2021. (USA)
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2006 - Wine Advocate- December 31st 2008- 90-91/100Effusive aromas of pink grapefruit, banana, peach, and pineapple rise from the glass. For all of the exotic ripeness suggested on the nose, and its breadth and its polished texture on the palate, this Batard still evinces some freshness as well as a suggestion of stony minerality. Bitter peach kernel and lemon pip add to the finish. This is a strong candidate for representing true grand cru quality over the next 6-8 years. (USA)
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2006 - Wine Spectator - May 2009 - 92/100Floral, apple and citrus flavors convene in this elegant white. It's compact and almost crisp, with the acidity driving the long finish. A vanilla custard note lingers on the aftertaste. By Bruce Sanderson (USA).

The wine rolls around the mouth, powerful but kept within its limits by acidity. (USA)
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2006 - Burghound.com - July 2008 - 91-93/100An expressive and complex white flower and nutmeg-infused nose is trimmed in a deft touch of wood toast that is also picked up on the citrusy flavors that possess real size, weight and power and culminate in a sappy and palate staining finish of impressive persistence. By Allen Meadows (USA).
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2006 - Jancis Robinson - February 2008 - 17.5/20Oily spice. Firm, gently honeyed and spiced citrus. Rich, deep and full flavoured. Lots of easy pleasure already. Drink 2010-16. (UK)
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2005 - Wine Spectator - Aug 31, 2007 - 94/100This is exotic, from the tropical fruit flavors to the lush texture. Apricot, pineapple and mango notes, with a touch of vanilla and anise, get support from the vibrant acidity. Balanced and long, with a butterscotch aftertaste. Best from 2009 through 2022. (USA)
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2005 - Burghound.com - July 2007 - 93/100(from both Puligny and Chassagne fruit). This is surprisingly elegant and expressive for young Bâtard, indeed it's almost as elegant as the Chevalier with a highly complex nose featuring citrus, fennel, floral and brown sugar hints that continue onto the powerful, textured and mouth coating flavors, all wrapped in a punchy and sappy finish. I'm impressed by the level of dry extract and ultimately this is as good as the Chevalier in 2005. 2013+. By Allen Meadows (USA).
    • Bâtard Montrachet Grand Cru 2005 - Jancis Robinson - January 2007 - "Class"Real lift on the nose with opulence and obvious Grand Cru extra weight and class. Great, brisk acidity. Satin texture and zest. (UK)
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2004 - Wine Spectator - Dec 31, 2006 - 89/100Ripe and round, offering tangerine, peach and dried citrus notes. Overall, on the light side, with moderate length and a slightly astringent finish. Drink now through 2012. (USA)
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2004 - TheFineWineTimes.com - February 11th, 2010 - "High class and noble"Big bold nose, powerful with tons of spicy new oak, minerals and ripe citrus aromas-obviously high class and noble with a complex aged nutty note. Powerful and opulent on the palate; full-bodied with hazelnut and lavish creamy layers of citrus flavours. Luxurious and solidly built with high tensile acidity and a concentrated spicy finish. Exceptional. (UK)
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2004 - Burghound.com - July 2006 - 92/100A nose that features terrific aromatic complexity with white flower, peach, pear and background hints of honey and wood spice leads to suave and silky flavors that are surprisingly forward and are already drinking well yet possess the strucuture and muscle to age for a few years in bottle. • Bâtard Montrachet Grand Cru 2003 - eRobertParker - April 2005 - 90/100Rich wafts of honeyed minerals emanate from the glass of the medium-bodied 2003 Batard-Montrachet (white). Oily-textured and thick, it coats the palate with caramelized minerals, baked pears, and spices. A fruity, straightforward wine, it is a candidate for drinking over the next 6 years.
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2003 - Wine Spectator - September 30th, 2006 - 89/100Broad and powerful, with focus and a moderaely firm structure, including tannins, to keep the baked apple, lime blossom and hazelnut flavors defined. Good length. (USA)
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2003 - Vinavisen Magazine - February 2005 - 5 stars Every mouthful of this full-bodied white wine is a lengthy sensation that covers the whole spectra of ripe fruits and goes on to almonds and nuts. An elegant dryness ends the wine with perfection.
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2003 - Burghound.com - October 2005 - 92/100This too is quite aromatically expressive and while this is no model of finesse either, both the aromatic and flavor profiles possess stunning complexity and in contrast to most big, sappy and muscular wine, this manages to retain an unusually fine sense of balance and delivers a palate staining finish. It's dramatic but there's substance behind the size and weight. By Allen Meadows (USA).
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2003 - Wine Advocate - Issue 158 - 90/100Rich wafts of honeyed minerals emanate from the glass of this medium-bodied wine. Oily-textured and thick, it coats the palate with caremelized minerals, baked pears, and spices. A fruity, straightforward wine. (USA)
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2002 - Wine Advocate - February 2004 - 92-94/100Candied apples and lilies from the glass of the 2002 Bâtar-Montrachet. • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2000 - Wine Advocate - December 2001 - 90-92/100The boisterous 2000 Bâtard-Montrachet is rich, vinious, tangy and focused. • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2000 - Wine Enthusiast - August 2002 - 92/100Not for the fainthearted, this is a huge, mouthfilling wine bursting with yellow plum, hazelnut and peach aromas, and accented by smoke, butter and toast. Yet for all its size, it manages to marry that power with a sense of mineral elegance. (USA)

    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 1998 - June 2018 - The Wine Knitter - "Impressive"

Louis Latour 1998 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand cru was a soft gold color with aromas of honey, soft citrus and subtle floral. The palate was subtle but flavorful, with hints of apple, dried fruit, honeysuckle and minerality. It was quite enjoyable and impressive for a twenty-year-old wine. By Penny Weiss (USA)

    • Bâtard Montrachet Grand Cru 1997 - Wine Advocate - June 1999 - 92-93/100I got immense enjoyment from Latour's 1997 Batard-Montrachet. It delivers corporal pleasure in a bold, assertive, and flashy manner. Sweet white fruits, hazelnut puree, honeysuckle, and roses can be discerned in its blatant aromatics. This massive, broad-shouldered, and full-bodied wine is not for the weak. Thick, fabulously ripe layers of candied apples, spiced pears, toasty oak, and hints of tropical fruits are found in its ample character. It is not made for extended cellaring, yet will deliver enormous pleasure over the next 5-6 years.
    • Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 1996 - WineSpectator - Aug 31, 1997 - 95/100Big, showy, heavily toasted and enormously flavorful, with great intensity and power on the finish. Delicious ripe pear flavors, along with cinnamon, nutmeg, orange peel and dried fig notes. Needs time. Best after 2004.
    • 1996 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru - The Wine Advocate tasting - 92-94 points :The Bâtard-Montrachet reveals intense anise, cake icing, candied white fruit and raspberry aromas. • Bâtard Montrachet Grand Cru 1995 - Wine Spectator - Aug 31, 1997 - 95/100Big, showy, heavily toasted and enormously flavorful, with great intensity and power on the finish. • Bâtard Montrachet Grand Cru 1994 - Wine Spectator - Aug 31, 1996 - 88/100Exotic and well-made. Rich, ripe and velvety, with honey, mint, apricot jam, fig, mango and tobacco flavors. Full-bodied, for delicious drinking now through 1999.
    • Bâtard Montrachet Grand Cru 1992 - eRobertParker - Oct 1993 - 92/100This highly extracted, unctuously-textured, succulent wine is loaded with fruit, glycerin, alcohol, and body. It is a large-framed wine for drinking over the next decade.
    • 1990 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru - Wine - July 2000 :Lovely open, honeyed nose, really ripe and powerful with oodles of new oak. Deep golden, elegantt yet structured with roses, hay, oatmeal and vanilla flavours.
    • Bâtard Montrachet Grand Cru 1989 - eRobertParker - Feb 1992 - 96/100Among Louis Latour's grands crus, the 1989 Batard-Montrachet is absolutely spectacular, a near perfect example of just how riveting Batard-Montrachet can be. Even though it is much more developed than the 1989 Corton-Charlemagne or 1989 Montrachet, it should last as long as either of them. The bouquet is bursting with flavors of oranges, smoky oak, toast, and butterscotch. In the mouth there is enormous richness, gobs of glycerin and extraction of flavor, and surprisingly high acidity in view of the wine's massiveness and extract levels. Drink this spectacular Batard-Montrachet over the next 10-15 years. This is an outstanding white burgundy by any standard of measurement. Don't miss it!
    • Bâtard Montrachet Grand Cru 1987 - Wine Spectator - Feb 28, 1990 - 89/100Rich, earthy and oily, but with plenty of spice, pear and honey flavors that come across as somewhat astringent now, but with plenty of concentration. The aftertaste of honey and spice lingers. Drink now through 1994.
