- "Les Damodes" is situated on the northern part of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation, just to the south of the premier cru appellations of Vosne-Romanée. The vineyard name "Les Damodes" comes from "Dame" meaning lady. Legend says that there were fairies that inhabited this rocky hillside above the village of Nuits-Saint-Georges, once covered by quarries and woods! But more likely it was the presence of rocky forms that looked like tall ladies in long dresses that gave the parcel its name. Known locally as "les Dames Hautes", "hautes" (meaning tall), hence the pronounciation has become "damaudes" then "damodes". Planted on a parcel with an easterly exposure, the vines grow on poor, limestone soils. Elegance and finesse perfectly characterize this wine.

- Tasting NoteOur Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru « Les Damodes » 2011 reveals an appealing rubis color with flecks of garnet color. The nose offers a pleasant range of flavors: undergrowth notes can be smelt but are very-well balanced with the seductive and fine aromas of raspberry and blackcurrant. Liquorice aromas subtly bring an enjoyable bitterness. Round on the mouth, woody notes are coated in silky tannins.

- Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Damodes" 2014 - Wine Enthusiast- October 2016 - 90/100
This wine is structured and firm, with some bitterness. Acidity and red-currant fruits bring out the freshness of the year while still needing time to develop. The wine is concentrated and tight at the end. It will take time to be ready, so don't drink before 2022.

- Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Damodes" 2014 - Burghound.com - April 2016 - 92/100
This is inexpressive to the point of being all but mute and only aggressive swirling coaxes notes of plum, violet, earth and spice to reveal themselves. The sleek and muscular middle weight plus flavors possess good power and punch while delivering very fine length on the stony, robust and rustic finale. This is very Nuits in character and patience will be required. /2024+
- Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Damodes" 2013 - Wine Spectator - May 2016 - 93/100
Juicy and harmonious, exhibiting cherry, raspberry, floral and chalky, stony aromas and flavors. Racy and persistent, leaving cherry, berry and mineral elements etched into the long finish. Best from 2019 through 2033.
- Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Damodes" 2013 - Burghound.com - Avril 2015 - 90/100Here too strong menthol minimizes the appeal of plum and purple fruit that is
softly interlaced with earth and sauvage hints. The supple, round and seductively textured middle weight flavors possess a
subtle minerality on the dusty, rustic and notably firm finish that offers a good length.
- Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Damodes" 2013 - Burgundy Report- December 2014 - "Elegant wine"Medium-plus colour. High-toned pretty aromatics with flowers and a slowly growing depth of fine aroma. Round but less ‘big' - seemingly lots of weight here and a growing intensity of fine, slightly spiced fruit. Without denigrating, this is a more elegant wine to drink today versus the power of the Cortons!
