Wine Enthusiast Buying Guide
95 Chevalier-Montrachet "Les Demoiselles” 2008
A flinty, mineral-charactered wine, with smoke and toast flavors dominant at this stage. The power and richness are there in the background, while the white fruits fit behind the structure. It's obviously for the long haul, a powerful, tight wine. - R.V. Cellar Selection.

95 Montrachet 2008
The potential here is enormous. This is a great wine, powerful and densely textured, at this stage packed with a steely character, but just waiting to unleash its beautifully defined fruit, to break out of the tight structure. Give it at least six years. - R.V.

95 Corton-Charlemagne 2008
Louis Latour has one of the largest landholdings in this famed vineyard and makes a classic, powerful Corton Charlemagne. The acidity of 2008 gives this wine even greater complexity and a purity of line to go with the power and density. Certainly for aging. - R.V.

94 Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet 2008
Very tight in character, the texture steely and firm to top the strongly mineral texture. There is an exotic touch of pepper to go with the pear skin fruit flavors and the weighty structure. - R.V.

93 Bâtard-Montrachet 2008
There is an explosion of ripe yellow fruit here, giving a ripe, tropical feel. Spice, mango, it's quite a powerhouse of flavors. This is a gorgeous, opulent wine. - R.V.

93 Puligny-Montrachet "Les Folatières” 2008
An austere wine, tight and taut, drawing a fine line of apple skins and green plum over a steely, mineral character. This is going to take its time, give it 3-4 years. - R.V.

92 Puligny-Montrachet "La Garenne” 2008
A very mineral-textured wine, with a stark contrast of ripe yellow fruits, sweet vanilla and an open final flavor. The wine is certainly packed with flavors, dense, the steely edge likely to soften over the next 2-3 years. - R.V.

91 Meursault "Charmes” 2008
A rounded wine, with a counterpoint of apple skin texture, the fruit flavors offering acidity as well as green plums. The texture is plush, velvet, delicious. - R.V.

91 Meursault "Goutte d'Or” 2008
Big and broad with fruit that is full and ripe, packed with golden apple flavors. It has great texture and sweetness, with a well-judged touch of vanilla from the wood. - R.V.

91 Puligny-Montrachet "Truffières” 2008
Youthful yeasty aromas appear at this early stage, the palate showing the same character. The fruit is firm and structured, the acidity very marked along with its tense mineral character. For aging. - R.V.

89 Mâcon-Lugny "Les Genièvres” 2008
Big, bold wine, ripe fruits pushed forward by wood, some spice, rich in character. This is lush Chardonnay, but with a good mineral edge. - R.V.

88 Meursault 2008
Ripe wine, with smooth vanilla and apricot flavors and an opulent texture. There is acidity, but it is swallowed by the ripe yellow fruits. - R.V.

88 Puligny-Montrachet 2008
Steely in character, offering minerality, the fruit ripe melon and pear. - R.V.

87 Chassagne-Montrachet 2008
This is soft, full of ripe white fruit flavors. The wine is broad, showing some freshness along with the forward richness. - R.V.
