  • Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Morgeot" has a southeast exposure mid-slope. "Morgeot" is a hamlet of Chassagne-Montrachet. Vines have been planted here since the Abbot of Maizières decided to clear and plant the territory of Morgeot in the 15th century. Only a quarter of the Premier Cru of this appellation are planted with Pinot Noir. The red wines of Morgeot are balanced and sometimes a little firm in their youth, but patience will be greatly rewarded.

Press review
    • Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Morgeot" Rouge 2021 - Vert de Vin - January 2024 - 93/100The wine has a ruby colour, of medium intensity. The nose offers notes of ripe red fruits (wild strawberry, red cherry, raspberry coulis, red currant jam), combined with touches of black fruits (morello cherry, a delicate touch of wild blackberry and tangy black plum), as well as touches of vanilla, grilled hazelnut, toast, flowers (peony, fresh rose petals), roasted aromatic herbs (thyme, bay leaf). On the palate, the wine offers bright fruity flavours (bigarreau cherry, morello cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry coulis, wild blackberry, a fine touch of blackcurrant), fresh herbaceous touches (peppermint, cut rosemary, fresh thyme), delicate woody (toast, a touch of vanilla, clove) and floral (fresh rose petals, violet) notes. Good length with juicey and tangy fruity notes (red cherry, raspberry), lively acidity and good bitterness.

What a beautiful nose of blackberries this excellent red Burgundy has. Ripe and fleshy on the generous palate, the richness backed up by stacks of fine tannins. Long and complex finish with lovely citrus-zest freshness that gives it excellent drive. So much potential! Drink or hold.
