Wine tips
  • Cellaring Potential2-5 years
  • Serving temperature 10-12°
  • Chardonnay is a native grape variety of Burgundy. Chardonnay perfectly matches the terroir of Burgundy: poor soils or calcareous marl, perfect exposure but a temperate climate. As a result the sugar content can reach a high level while maintaining a balance of fruit and acidity.
Vinification & Ageing
  • Fermentation
Traditional in stainless steel vats, temperature controlled with complete malolactic fermentation
  • Ageing
8 to 10 months ageing in stainless steel vats

    • Bourgogne Chardonnay 2017 - Wine Align - Canada - August 2019 - 89/100

This is an elegant, understated chardonnay that is similar to Chablis but slightly richer due to its more southerly origin in the Cote d'Or. Expect subtle aromas of apple, lemon and a distant waft of oak smoke, vanilla cream and spice. It is mid-weight, nicely compact with some juicy acidity and alcohol warmth. There is some minerality on the finish as well. The length is very good to excellent.  David Lawrason

    • Bourgogne Chardonnay 2016 - Richmond News - August 2018 - "A lovely white Burgundy"

The Louis Latour 2016 Chardonnay is a lovely white Burgundy. It displays a medium straw colour with scents of lemon, pears, apples, vanilla and hazelnuts. The flavour also reveals those elements with "great vivacity" due to the crisp acid levels balanced with the fruit and the flavour of minerals from the limestone soil. (UK)

    • Bourgogne Chardonnay 2014 - Decanter - December 2016 - Recommended

Rich, upfront fruit that is grapey in a Muscat-like way; has enchanting appeal. More exuberant than classy, but a nice wine which holds up well.

    • Bourgogne Chardonnay 2010 - - February 2012 - 88/100This is one of the best Latour Bourgogne Blancs we have tasted in years. Honest, inexpensive, ‘Burgundy'-like with a fresh floral nose flecked hints of butter and green apple skin. The palate is fresh and lean with a touch of texture and richness from the malolactic fermentation and freshness, complexity and persistence of flavour throughout. Well done and affordable. Great for an assortment of West Coast fish. (Canada)
    • Bourgogne Chardonnay 2010 - My Wines And More - May 2013 - 84/100Pale lemon yellow. Apples and some yellow fruits, touch of minerals on the nose. Fresh acidity, rounded palate, fruity, slightly creamy texture, good length.
    • Chardonnay Bourgogne 2010 - International Wine Challenge - June 2012 - Bronze medal
    • Chardonnay Bourgogne 2010 - Decanter - October 2012 - Bronze medal Light apple aromas linger on nose. Palate shows brambly apple fruit with grapefruit finish. (UK)
    • Chardonnay Bourgogne 2009 - The Chatham Daily News - August 2011 - "Crisp, refreshing flavour"The dry character of this Chardonnay gives it its French accent. The crisp, refreshing flavour suggests green apple and pear, lending it a more subtle personality than the more aggressively oaked or riper, richer styles of Chardonnay popularized in hot spots like California and Australia. (Canada)
    • Chardonnay Bourgogne 2009 - 2011 International Wine Challenge - May 2011 - Silver medalLayered vanilla and peach notes, good palate, well balanced with lightness. (UK)
    • Chardonnay Bourgogne 2009 - Calgary Herald - March 20th 2011 - ""Impressive"Impressive. This fresh, citrusy sipper is delicate and slightly creamy; you may detect some apple and wet stone flavours, too. This is a Chardonnay that will please most white wine fans; enjoy it on a sunny afternoon with mom, at a casual dinner with friends or while gossiping with your best gal pals.
Drink: Now, with a variety of fish, roast chicken or turkey, mild cheeses, egg or creamy pasta dishes. A versatile food wine. Cork closure. Serve chilled.

    • Chardonnay Bourgogne 2008 - Gismondionwine (CA) - September 2010 - 88/100Very citrusy, green apple, floral, matchstick, pear skin aromas. Fresh, dry, delicate, slightly skinny palate with a creamy acidity. Lemon, lime, slate, pear, apple skin, light butter and spice flavours. Good juicy palate if a bit austere. Solid food wine for the money. Nice improvement over the last decade.
    • Bourgogne Chardonnay 2007 - The Globe & Mail - December 2009 - "Elegant choice"Widely available from British Columbia to the Atlantic is a very decent French white that's a versatile choice for holiday entertaining. Louis Latour Chardonnay 2007 is the latest vintage of a well-priced white Burgundy. Unlike hot-climate chardonnays that can taste sweet and too cloying from overexposure to oak, this relatively affordable one from the chardonnay capital of the world speaks of its region, with understated fruit, a subtle seam of mineral-like flavour and balancing acidity. It would be an elegant choice for a cocktail reception and a good partner for a wide range of foods. By Beppi Crosariol, USA.
    • Chardonnay Bourgogne 2007 - Vancouver 24 Hours - August 2009 - "Soft and round palate"Flinty and nutty aromas lend some richness to this easy-going, straightforward white Burgundy. The palate is soft and round with some interesting floral notes. Serve slightly chilled for best enjoyment, with grilled chicken or seafood dishes. By Christopher Waters, Canada.
    • Bourgogne Chardonnay 2007 - Gismoonwine (Canada) - July 7th 2009 - 88/100A fine introductory style European chardonnay made by the legendary producer of Corton Charlemagne. The nose is a light floral affair with notes of minerals and spice. Fairly smooth and full-bodied on the palate with delicate fruit flavours and a hint of nutty butter in the finish. Just enough complexity for the price.
    • Bourgogne Chardonnay 2007 - - July 22nd 2009 - 89/100Certainly one of the best- value white Burgundies in our marketplace, this has wonderful consistency year to year. Aromas of minerals, lime, lemon and a hint of hazelnut lead into crisp citrus and apple flavours. The minerality shows through cleanly on the lemony, lime peel finish. Food suggestion: Wine-poached mussels. By Gord Stimmell, Canada.
