- The vineyards extend over 98 ha covering the continuation of the Volnay slope and a broad basin behind the village itself, which runs back northwards to link up with the Pommard hinterland. "Monthélie" comes from the Latin 'Monticulus' meaning a hill or small mountain.
Vinification & Ageing
- FermentationTraditional fermentation in open vats, complete malolactic fermentation.
- Ageing10 to 12 months ageing in oak barrels, 10% new.
- BarrelsLouis Latour cooperage, french oak, medium toasted.
- Tasting NoteOur Monthélie Rouge 2019 has a dark ruby colour. On the nose, it reveals notes of raspberry, blackberry and undergrowth. Its round and ample mouth with silky tannins offers cherry and licorice aromas. The whole is expressed with a remarkable length.

This red is smoky and bisected by cherry, raspberry and spice flavors. Linear and wound tight, it picks up a mineral element as it winds down on the long finish. Best from 2023 through 2032. — BS

Produced in this village in the hills behind the main slope of the Côte de Beaune, this wine is smooth and rich. Fine, soft tannins easily integrate into the sweet texture and red-plum fruit. The acidity is there, giving a wine that is both fresh and generous. Drink from 2018.
